Salt Spray Test Chamber

A salt spray test chamber is a specialized testing equipment used to simulate and evaluate the corrosion resistance of materials and coatings. It creates a controlled environment that exposes test specimens to a highly corrosive salt fog or mist, replicating the harsh conditions of coastal or marine environments.

The chamber typically consists of a sealed chamber with a misting system that atomizes a salt solution and sprays it onto the test specimens. The salt solution used is typically a mixture of sodium chloride (NaCl) and deionized water. The misting system ensures a uniform and consistent distribution of the salt fog over the test specimens.

The test specimens, which can be metal parts, coatings, or other materials, are usually placed on racks or holders inside the chamber. They are exposed to the salt fog for a predetermined period of time, typically ranging from a few hours to several weeks, depending on the testing requirements.

During the test, the chamber maintains a constant temperature and humidity level to ensure accurate and repeatable results. The temperature and humidity settings can be adjusted to simulate different environmental conditions.
