Throttling mechanism has the liquid refrigerant throttling pressure reduction, to ensure that the pressure difference between the condenser and evaporator , so that the evaporator is also too refrigerant in the requirements of the low pressure evaporation, to achieve the purpose of refrigeration; regulate the refrigerant flow rate supplied to the evaporator to adapt to the evaporator's heat load changes.
Types of throttling devices can be divided into:
(1) Manual expansion valve;
(2) Float ball expansion valve;
(3) Thermal expansion valves;
(4) Electronic expansion valves;
(5) Capillary tubes;
(6) Throttling short tube;
1.Manual expansion valve: only used in ammonia refrigeration system, experimental devices, bypass backup, etc..
2.Float expansion valve: in addition to throttling and pressure reduction, regulating flow, but also to maintain a certain liquid level in the evaporator. Applicable to the evaporator with free liquid level, such as: full-liquid evaporator; low-pressure circulating liquid storage tank; intermediate cooler. Float expansion valve structure is simple; float room liquid level fluctuation, float transfer to the spool of the impact force is also large, easy to damage.
3, thermal expansion valve: thermal expansion valve through the evaporator outlet of gaseous refrigerant superheat control valve opening. Used for non-full liquid evaporator. There are internal balance type, external balance type.
External balanced thermal expansion valve is collected pressure for the evaporator outlet pressure; external balanced thermal expansion valve is mainly used for evaporative pressure loss or pressure drop is larger, flow resistance, evaporative coil is long, temperature fluctuation is large, after throttling the evaporative pressure is higher than the evaporator outlet end of the pressure is higher than the system. Internal balanced thermal expansion valve is collected pressure for the expansion valve outlet pressure.
Thermal expansion valve selection needs to be considered:
Refrigerant type;
Evaporating temperature range;
Maximum refrigeration capacity of the evaporator after the valve;
Differential pressure before and after the valve;
4.Electronic expansion valve
Electronic expansion valve utilizes the electrical signal generated by the regulated parameters to control the voltage or current applied to the expansion valve to regulate the liquid supply. Liquid supply volume adjustment range is wide, fast response.
Electronic expansion valve superheat regulation: used for dry evaporator in the evaporator outlet set temperature sensor or pressure sensor to collect the evaporator outlet refrigerant superheat, feedback control valve opening; feed-forward plus feedback composite regulation, can eliminate the superheat due to the evaporator wall and sensor heat capacity caused by the superheat control hysteresis, to improve the quality of the system regulation, in a wide range of evaporating temperature region so that the degree of superheat control in the target The wide evaporating temperature region makes the superheat control within the target range.
5.Capillary Tube
Diameter 0.7 ~ 2.5mm, length 0.6 ~ 6m of long, thin copper tube, which is widely used in small-scale fully enclosed direct cooling device. Liquid supply capacity depends on: the state of the refrigerant at the inlet of the capillary tube (pressure, temperature), the geometry of the capillary tube (length, inner diameter).
Capillary features: simple structure, low price; no moving parts; the system does not need to be installed reservoir, refrigerant charging less; compressor stops, the pressure can be faster to reach equilibrium, reduce the start-up load of the motor; poor regulation, liquid supply can not be adjusted with the change in operating conditions; applicable to evaporative temperature change is not large, the working conditions of the more stable occasions.
6.Throttle short tube
Throttling short tube is a fixed cross-section throttling orifice throttling device, has been used in some automobile air conditioning, chiller and heat pump unit. The main advantages: low price, simple manufacturing, good reliability, easy to install, the abolition of the thermal expansion valve system used to identify the size of the refrigeration load to increase the temperature sensing package, etc., with good interchangeability and self-balancing capacity.
7.Orifice plate throttling
For centrifugal chiller and other refrigeration equipment, its refrigerant circulation is relatively large, so the capillary tube is obviously not suitable. In the pipeline before and after the pressure difference is large, often used to increase the throttle orifice plate way to achieve; throttle orifice plate principle is when the fluid flows in the pipeline, due to the local resistance of the orifice plate so that the fluid pressure is reduced, energy loss. The phenomenon is thermodynamically known as the throttling phenomenon.

The use of throttling orifice plate than the use of control valves some simple, but must be configured properly, otherwise I then the liquid is prone to cavitation may affect the safe operation of the pipeline, the role of throttling orifice plate in the pipeline at the appropriate place to make the aperture smaller, in the liquid through the mouth of the contraction, the flow bundle will be thinned out or contraction. The smallest cross-section of the flow bundle occurs downstream of the actual indentation, which we call the shrinkage cross-section. The flow velocity is maximum at the shrinkage cross section.
